Ahhhhh.....
Darren and I just returned from a weekend trip to Monterey, CA and it was so nice. We stayed in the Monterey Plaza & Spa and it was truly THE NICEST place I've ever stayed. The hotel jutted over the ocean and we could see sea lions from our window. It was so nice falling to sleep listening to the water and the weather was beautiful. It got a little chilly at night (light jacket kind) but during the day it was beautiful (can I use this word enough?). We ate at some of the nicest places and I probably gained 5 pounds but it was worth it. We traveled with another couple from Idaho and they were a lot of fun. I was a little leery at first since I didn't know them and I was planning on some serious alone time while Darren was at meetings but we ended up having a lot in common and visited just the right amount of time and we both brought books to read in the down time - yea! This was my first time to Monterey and if I ever moved back to CA - this is where I would want to live (of course I'd need 1-2 million for a decent home). I loved this trip and Darren and I had such a good time together. I wished that we could have stayed for another day or two but hopefully I can come with Darren every year now that my parents are going to be closer...Mom, Dad? Thanks for the nice getaway Darren - the fact that Darren's work footed most of the bill didn't hurt either.

That sounds like fun Em. I have only been to Monterey once and it was really beautiful. That would be a nice place to live... or anually visit. You will be so lucky to have Mom and Dad soo close to babysit.
Spending other peoples money is always so much fun. That sounds really sweet. I've never been there. Maybe we should meet up next time you go.
sounds like fun. who watched the kids? we need a trip like that soon.
Lucky you! Paul and I are going all the way to Provo, UT for our 16th Anniversary getaway to the Hines Mansion. But the important part is that there will be no children with us!
Never been to Monterey, but sounds "beautiful"! Hey I believe that it was listed on the top 10 falling house markets, so maybe just 750 thousand for a shanty!
