Lake Powell
We just returned from a week in Lake Powell and we had a blast. We stayed on the "Powell Obsession" (my Dad's houseboat) along with my parents and Tracy and Joe. The kids all loved the houseboat and the water was great. My Dad recently purchased 2 jet skies and Reilly and Jacob were constantly hitching rides. Ryann and Evan preferred the slower moving less spraying modes of transportation. I loved taking the younger two on the kayak. Ryann would just sit there and dangle her "feeties" in the water while I rowed around the little cove we docked in. Evan didn't care much
for getting wet, so he mainly stayed on land and threw rocks in the water. He probably could have done it all day, everyday. Jacob loved riding on the jet ski and would ride in the tube pulled behind the boat only if we went at a reasonable speed. Reilly on the other hand loved everything and everything no matter the speed - she was up for it. She would tag along with anyone heading out, no matter what the excursion. The boat had a slide off the back that dropped off into the water that the kids loved. Reilly headed down first and then Evan decided he wanted to try. without any hesitation he walked up to the slide, sat and scooted. As soon
he hit the water he was like one of those wind-up toys and his arms immediately starting to paddle. Ryann wanted a turn so Darren took her down (she never wants to be left out of anything). Her face flashed terror but she did it a couple more times before she finally had enough. Jacob was still unsure and waited until the next day to go, but once he did he loved it and made sure to go down every time it was turned on. My Mom found a "good" place for jumping off rocks into the water below. I say "good" because it was crazy that we tried taking the kids there. It ended up being okay and I actually jumped off myself a couple of
times - yee haw! As much as I love water, I really don't like swimming in anything but pools. My imagination runs wild with all the creatures lurking in the depths below. At night the adults played lots of card games with the favorite being "Scum" followed by "Phase 10". The weather was great except the last 2 days were a little overcast with some showers. My poor parents slept on top huddled under blankets during the wind/rain storm at night. It was fun for them the first night but when the blankets were still wet heading into the second night I strongly encouraged them to sleep inside. All was good and the anchors held our boat without having to reposition much. it took a few days once I got back to not feel like I was swaying still ( I don't remember that ever happening before) but all in all we had a blast and can't wait to do it again:)

Love the pics. How come there aren't any of you? I wish we could all go together but that would be way too crowded. I see you have learned some things about the blog. How's the bracelet blog coming?
Haha... I don't think "good" is a fitting description for the rock jumping spot, that Mom wanted to take the kids to. Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of that day.... but that was an adventure I will never forget. It was so hard to keep track of Ryann and Evan getting too close to the jumping edge and Lucy swimming up the canyon without any shoreline. Best of all... you, Mom, Ryann, Evan and Lucy all on the same kayak trying to get there. Amazing!
