Lazy Days of Summer?
Well summer has officially begun. The kids have been out of school for a week now and I'm already wondering how on earth I'm going to make it for another couple of months. We've been swimming a few times ( never long enough according to the older two and always too long if you ask the younger two), a "memorable" trip to Costco (what was I thinking taking four kids by myself?), countless miles driving Reilly to and from various activities (Jacob's complaining his schedule isn't as busy) and kids complaining that they're bored by 10 a.m. Who ever coined the phrase "lazy days of summer" obviously didn't have a houseful of constantly hungry kids waiting to be entertained. I was planning on getting so much accomplished this summer but as of now I'll just be happy to keep my house somewhat clean and my kids somewhat happy (the order varies depending on the day). I might just scream if I hear the phrase "I'm hungry" even one more time. For those of you who have ever been around any of my younger 3 kids for more then 10 min. understands what I mean. I shouldn't sound so negative about summer. It is nice having layed-back mornings and I love lying in bed with Evan and Ryann reading books and "wrestling". Reilly and Jacob are getting really good at helping me with the younger two so it's a little easier for us to venture out more often. I love not being tied to a schedule - that's probably my favorite thing. I hope in the midst of all the swimming and playing that I can do some more reading. I just read 3 books in as many weeks and listened to a 14 hour book on tape so I'm off to a good start. With 3 birthdays, an anniversary and a baptism all coming up in the next 2 months it should definitely be a busy fun-filled summer. I'll keep you posted.

I hear you loud and clear. I can attest to the bored and hungry comments. Having a clear schedule is so nice. But dragging 4 kids around can be a pain. Well, I'm always up for getting together for a fun weekend. We'll have to road trip it sooner or later. Love the sunflower picture.
Em- where are you going swimming? Joe and I really want to come. Call me next time you go...
I'm nervous for summer to start here too. I'm already thinking about what I can fill my days with and it hasn't begun yet for us (here in Cali.). I want to go to the beach and pool a lot, but Owen needs to stick by me if that is going to happen. Now that all the shows are over I'm swearing off TV for the summer - do you have a good book to suggest. I don't read a ton so it has to be good and gripping (like my people magazine... j/k).
When I was a kid, it seems like we spent all day running between friends houses and playing outside. After the chores were done, of course!
Nowadays, kids can't really run free like they used to and the kids don't have friends in our immediate neighborhood. Moms become the entertainment committee.
