Our Trip to San Diego

We took a trip to Coronado Island in May and had such a good time. We checked into our condo on Sunday and then took a walk along the beach. The water was a little cool but other then that it was perfect. On Monday we went to Sea World and spent the day enjoying shows, exploring different sea life and riding a few rides. The weather was great and the food, well expensive. The kids had so much fun at the different shows and really learned a ton. On Tues. we ventured down to Tijuana. Ewwww! It is not at all how Darren and I remembered it when we went there as teenagers and couldn't wait to get out of there. We didn't think about taking any kind of ID so when we were going through the lines to come back into the states the guard stopped us and asked for proof of citizenship. WHAT???? We had to stand there and look stupid while he lectured us on the importance of having ID when we left the country. Ahhh...looking like an American doesn't cut it anymore? Just when Darren and I started to worry that we would be taking up residence here for the next little while the guard questioned Jacob on who everyone was and that seemed to be good enough "this time". Wed. we headed out to The San Diego Zoo and again had fun exploring and learning. The shows weren't as good and the walking in the hot sun was not as much fun without the water shows to cool us off but the food was still pricey so all in all it was a worthwhile experience. Thurs. was the best day. We rented bikes and took a leisurely ride through the streets of Coronado and along the ocean front. We had so much fun and stopped for lunch and a little shopping (not much since we were on the clock). Darren and I want to buy bikes for ourselves and make family bike rides a weekly activity. On Fri. we drove north to visit the San Diego Wild Animal Park and it was a lot like the zoo but the animals seemed to almost roam free. The lions were amazing and the "safari" ride was relaxing. We were able to see a lot of the wild life and the kids loved the drive through the "wilderness". We were smart this time and had a big breakfast before we arrived and were able to get out of there only buying a drink and a bag of popcorn to share:) We had a fun pool at the condo and so everyday after our excursions we cooled off in the pool and relaxed in the hot tub. We absolutely loved this vacation and hope to make it an annual trek.

Those are such cute pictures and it looks like a really fun trip... but I have one question for you. Did Evan want to wear that flower behind his ear, or did you make him? haha.. he still looks super cute!

Looks like so much fun. That would be awesome if you did an annual thing down there. Although brief, glad we got to see you on the way.
